BeatRoute's TeleOrder AI Agent Takes Live Order From Retailer

Salesman Tracking App for FMCG Sales Teams

A salesman tracking app records where your field sales reps are and shows whether each planned outlet visit happened. BeatRoute's app shows, in real time, a check-in inside the outlet's geo-fence, the time spent in the store and the order taken, laid against the beat plan. Each rep sees the same record on their own phone.

Read the visit and its result, then the beat

A map of dots tells you where reps are. To judge a salesman's day, read three layers in order and stop at the first one that fails.

Shelf photo from an outlet visit, stamped with the outlet name, GPS coordinates, date and time, and the rep's name
  • The dot: where the rep was, and whether they left the planned route.
  • The visit: a check-in inside the outlet's geo-fence, and enough time in the store to sell.
  • The result: an order, a collection, a shelf photo or a stock count.

Then look across reps before you look at one rep. When every rep who runs a beat misses the same outlets at the end of the day, the beat is too long, and the fix is to rebalance it. When one rep misses outlets that others cover on similar beats, that is a conversation for the area sales manager.

Perfetti Van Melle Indonesia geo-tagged all 300,000 of its outlets and moved its whole sales team onto BeatRoute SFA with route optimization. On the BeatRoute platform it saw a 3x increase in coverage, with no bigger field force.

We needed tools that would help our salespeople cover more stores efficiently. With BeatRoute's routing and SFA solutions, we managed to triple our coverage in three years.

Roll it out without treating reps as suspects

Start with one area sales manager and their reps, for a full beat cycle so every outlet comes up once. BeatRoute suits brands whose reps sell to many retailers through distributors and want distributor management on the same platform.

Agree the rules first

Tell reps in writing what is recorded and that it stops at day end. Show them their own screen before the manager's. Keep strict visit checks for the outlets or rep groups where visits have been in doubt, not for everyone.

Try to break it

Check in from the street outside an outlet and see whether it is flagged. Book an order in flight mode, then reconnect. Run the app for a full day on the oldest phone in the team and note the battery at day end.

Read the first cycle

Compare each beat's plan against actual, time in store and visits that ended in an order. Rebalance the beats that every rep fell short on, then ask reps what slowed them down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does salesman tracking drain the phone battery?

Any app that reads GPS through the day uses some battery, and how much depends on the phone. BeatRoute reads location only between the rep's day start and day end, not around the clock, so the drain is limited to working hours. Test it on the oldest phone in your team before you roll out.

Can a salesman fake a location or a visit?

A phone's location can be spoofed, so do not let a visit rest on the dot alone. In BeatRoute a visit also needs a check-in inside the outlet's geo-fence and, where you switch on strict checks, a geo-tagged photo at the counter or shelf.

Do reps need a separate tracking app?

No. Tracking is part of BeatRoute's field sales app, the same app reps use to book orders, collect payments and check shelves, so a visit and its order sit in one record. For tracking across the whole sales force, including route history and coaching, see the broader sales force tracking page.

How much does a salesman tracking app cost?

BeatRoute is subscription software, priced per user and module on annual contracts, with no free trial.
